Volunteer
At The Pettit
Do you enjoy ice skating or watching people skate?
Volunteer at the Pettit Center and help keep skaters
on the ice. Volunteering at the Coolest Place
in Town is a great way to get involved in our
U.S. Olympic Training Facility. It is also a perfect
way to skate for FREE! All of
our volunteers are welcome to skate for free during
any of our public sessions, and receive other
benefits as well. Volunteering at the Pettit Center
is fun, and our volunteers help us in many ways.

The
Pettit Center volunteers have fun at the Spring
Volunteer Party.
Pettit Center volunteers help us provide a safe
and enjoyable skating experience for all patrons
of the Pettit National Ice Center. Below
are some of the volunteer positions:
- Rink
Guards
Rink Guards help us monitor public skating sessions.
Guards’ duties include safety patrol and
basic skills assistance. Rink guards are needed
for day and evening skating sessions throughout
the week.
Rink guards assist with:
-Public Ice Skating Sessions
-Family Fun Nights
-School Field Trips
-Special Events (Click here
for an event listing)
You don't have to skate to volunteer at
the Pettit Center. A donation of your
time can help Wisconsin's only U.S. Olympic
Training Facility. Opportunities include:
- Office Assistance
The Pettit Information Window is a
vital hub for all Pettit skaters and customers.
Time to time assistance is needed at the Info
Window for such areas as:skater registration,
phone calls, data entry and helping with the
distribution of public skating admissions.
- Field Trip Coordinators
The Pettit offers field trips all year
long for school-aged children. Coordinators
can assist with every level of the field trip
experience at the Pettit Center.
- Mechanical and operational support
Help the Pettit run smoothly in day-to-day
operation with many different facility projects.
- Skate
Rental
Our skate department needs periodic assistance
during the peak skating season. Volunteers in
skate rental help the Pettit staff with the
distribution and collection of ice skates during
public sessions.
- Events and Competitions
Volunteer for an upcoming event or competition
at the Pettit National Ice Center and you can
see local, regional, national and international
athletes as they compete in speed skating, hockey,
and figure skating. Ushers, greeters, and hospitality
volunteers are needed throughout the year.
