To Play Hockey at the Pettit Center Skating School
Basic
skating skills are the foundation of success in
hockey. With that in mind, the Pettit Center
recommends that children who have never skated
before begin their hockey experience with basic
skating instruction.

Learn-To-Play
Hockey Levels 1-4 (ages 5 & Up) - $100
The Pettit's Learn-to-Play Hockey
Program is designed by USA Hockey to teach the
fundamentals of the game.
The program teaches skills in the basics of passing,
skating, shooting and puck-handling.
Through a progression of 4 skill levels the necessary
skating techniques, stick handling and puck handling
skills required to play youth hockey are taught.

- Turning & backward stance

- Hockey turns
- Backward stops
- Beginning crossovers
- Intro to stickhandling

- Hockey stops & turns
- Stickhandling, passing & shooting
Skaters
should have passed Snowplow Sam 3, Basic 1 or
any other equivalent class/expereince before registering
in the Learn-To-Play Hockey
