This is a unique opportunity for a parent and a child to skate together. Registration fee includes one child and one adult. The parent/adult must have previous skating experience and will be on the ice (with their child) during all lessons.

This class is designed for those ages 4-5 with little or no skating experience that have hockey on the brain. Class participants will learn the basics of skating with and without their hockey sticks including falling and getting up, marching, 2-foot glides, stopping and more. The focus will be on skating skills and not the actual game of hockey. Although this is a hockey geared class it is always recommended for new skaters to begin in figure skates and change to hockey skates once a solid sense of balance has been established. Graduates of this class will continue on into the Hockey Skills 1-5 series.

The Mini Mites program is for kids ages 3-6 whether they have experienced skating before or never stepped on the ice. It involves two main components:
1) Teaching and improving skating skills and technique
2) Introducing hockey specific skills and game play

The Basic Skills Program teaches students progressively more difficult moves through eight levels of skating. Upon competition of the Basic 1 through 8 Program, skaters will have knowledge of the sport enabling them to advance to more specialized areas of skating.
If a child is skating (or taking lessons) for the first time, the student should register for the Basic 1 class level. Students are evaluated at the first class session to gauge their skill/ability level, and are placed in another class if the their skill is applicable.
