Tot 'N Me

(Ages 3-5 with parent) - $80

This is a unique opportunity for a parent and a child to skate together. Registration fee includes one child and one adult. The parent/adult must have previous skating experience and will be on the ice (with their child) during all lessons. Each weekly Tot 'N Me class will have a half-hour lesson and 10 minutes of supervised or practice time after each lesson.

Tuesdays July 13 - August 17 6:30pm**
Thursdays July 15 - August 19 6:30pm**

         **10 minutes of supervised practice time will be added into the class time at the end of each class.

Snowplow Sam

Levels 1-3 (Ages 4-5) - $80

This program is a progression of three classes designed to teach the fundamentals of skating to children with little or no skating experience. Skaters will learn basic balance and skating skills in an age appropriate and fun environment. All weekly Snowplow Sam class will have a half-hour lesson and 10 minutes of supervised or practice time after each lesson.

Skills:

Snowplow Sam 1

  • Sit and stand with skates on
  • Marching & gliding on two feet

Snowplow Sam 2

  • Long glides
  • Forward & backward swizzles

Snowplow Sam 3

  • Forward skating
  • Stopping & curves

      **10 minutes of supervised practice time will be added into the class time at the end of each class.

Basic (Learn to Skate) Classes

Levels Basic 1 through Basic 8 (Ages 6-12) - $100

The Basic Skills Program teaches students progressively more difficult moves through eight levels of skating. Upon competition of the Basic 1 through 8 Program, skaters will have knowledge of the sport enabling them to advance to more specialized areas of skating.

If a child is skating (or taking lessons) for the first time, the student should register for the Basic 1 class level. Students are evaluated at the first class session to gauge their skill/ability level, and are placed in another class if the their skill is applicable.

Basic 1

  • Proper techniques to fall & get up
  • Marching
  • Two foot glides & stops

Basic 2

  • Backward skating
  • One foot glides
  • Two foot turns & snowplow stops

Basic 3

  • Forward stroking
  • Two foot spins & essence of actual skating & gliding

Basic 4

  • Forward edges
  • Crossovers & backward snowplow stops

Basic 5

  • Backward edges
  • Crossovers & one foot spins

Basic 6

  • Beginning jumps
  • Turns & spirals

Basic 7

  • More advanced jumps
  • Turns & edge work

Basic 8

  • Combining moves
  • Jumps & spins with new techniques
