Long wished for, a new running track looks to become a reality this summer for the Pettit Center. The project to replace and improve the running track and create a warm-up/stretching/sprint area adjacent to the track along the northeast side has a budget of close to $145,000. The rubberized surface will be about 3 times thicker and more cushioned than the existing 4mm track and wider also. At this point, a pledge from a major donor, profits from five Ice Breaker Marathon Series and commitment of Pettit Center internal funds are virtually enough for a new track, just slightly more than $100,000. But, we ask for your support to help raise the funds for the expanded surface adjacent to the track. This area will enhance the quality and breadth of exercise and conditioning for all runners and walkers, and for skaters and hockey players off the ice.
