It’s Great To Skate Into The New Year At The Pettit Center

The Pettit National Ice Center, a U.S. Olympic Training Site, is in full swing with Holidazzle public skating.

The Pettit Center is the Best Place to Skate, especially during the holidays. Public skating sessions on the famous Pettit Center Olympic Oval run from noon to 10 p.m. through December 31 with skating on New Year’s Day from noon to 9 p.m.

New Years Eve is a great day for skating and fun at the Pettit Center. First up on the 31st is “Run Into The New Year” a 5K run that is expected to attract nearly 500 runners striding through the Pettit Center at noon (the run INSIDE the Pettit Center is contingent on the weather).

Public skating begins at noon and continues until 10pm. The Pettit Center will ring-in the New Year with a countdown every hour on the hour. There will also be free noisemakers for skaters (while supplies last).

The Pettit Center is one of only 12 indoor Olympic Ovals in the world and conducts nearly 700 public skating sessions annually. Additionally, a popular 450-meter running track hugs the outside of the oval and provides a year-round indoor running and walking destination for thousands.

Holidazzle, which began the day after Thanksgiving, comes to a close on New Year’s Day. Throughout the holiday season there were skating sessions with Santa Claus, extended public skating hours, Candy Cane Club Skating Camp, jingle bells on skates, holiday tunes, a winter wonderland of trees and other festive holiday decorations on display.
