The Pettit National Ice Center, a U.S Olympic Training Site, is proud to announce the accomplishments of figure skaters that train at the Pettit Center.
Mackenzie Reid and Christian Erwin, a Juvenile Ice Dance team, won their qualifying round at the recent U.S. Figure Skating Junior National Championships in Cleveland, Ohio. Reid and Erwin earned the highest technical score of any of the 30 teams in the Freedance qualifying competition.
After a series of compulsory and free dances, the duo went on to skate magically as they placed fourth to earn a pewter medal upon conclusion of the Freedance competition. Once again, Reid and Erwin had the highest technical score of any of the final 16 dance teams.
This is the first team of champion ice dancers from the Milwaukee area.
Reid, 11 years old from Brookfield, Wisconsin, is a 6th grader at Wisconsin Hills Middle School and has been skating since she was age 4. Erwin is a native of Elm Grove, Wisconsin and is a freshman at Brookfield East high School with over 6 years of skating under his belt.
Ryan and Nikki Otto, a brother and sister combo who also train at the Pettit Center, placed 12th in their qualifying round of Freedance. Ryan, skating solo, then placed 10th in juvenile men singles.
