Vice Tabbed As Pettit’s Newest Board Member
The Pettit National Ice Center, a U.S. Olympic Training Facility, is proud to announce Jon Vice as the newest member of the Pettit’s Board of Directors. Vice joins the board immediately and currently is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Children’s Hospital and Health System, Inc. and its many subsidiaries.
Vice joined Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin as Executive Vice President in 1979 and has served as President/CEO since 1984. Under Vice’s leadership, Children’s Hospital has grown to become one of the nation’s largest and most respected regional pediatric medical centers in the nation. During Vice’s tenure he also directed the creation of the Children’s Hospital and Health System to handle fundraising, professional and family education and primary medical care.
”I am pleased to join the board of an internationally-recognized and respected organization that advocates for, supports and encourages healthy lifestyles,” Vice said. “The athletes who train and compete at the Pettit National Ice Center serve as strong and positive role models for children in Wisconsin and throughout the world. This facility also provides a place for children and their families to enjoy activities together, whether it is ice skating or hockey. Milwaukee is fortunate to have such an incredible facility and organization in the community.”
Before joining Children’s in Milwaukee, Vice served as Administrator of the Children’s Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama from 1977-1979. He also held positions as an Administrative Resident, Assistant Administrator and Associate Administrator from 1972 to 1976 at Cincinnati’s Children’s Hospital Medical Center. A graduate of the University of Alabama, Vice also holds a Master’s Degree in Hospital and Health Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
In addition to his top post at Children’s Hospital, Vice is very active with many community-based health organizations. Vice currently is the Immediate Past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Children’s Miracle Network, Vice Chairman of the Health Careers Foundation Board and Chairman of the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center Board of Directors. Vice is also on the Boards of Directors of the Greater Milwaukee Open, Mount Mary College, the Blood Center of Southeastern Wisconsin, Junior Achievement of Wisconsin and Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties.
“As the Pettit increases its programming to provide healthy lifestyle options for children and adults, as well as Olympic hopefuls, Jon’s experience and demonstrated leadership in the area of health care and his commitment to Milwaukee will be a terrific addition to the Pettit National Ice Center,” said Charles Henderson, Chairman of the Pettit’s Board of Directors.
