Pettit Wraps Up Successful Halloween Camps
The Pettit National Ice Center, a U.S. Olympic Training Facility, just finished two skating camps that were featured on October 30 and 31. The Hockey and Figure Skating Halloween camps were the first of their kind to be offered by the Pettit.
Both the figure skating and the hockey camps ran in conjunction with the two-day state of Wisconsin teachers’ convention, which made for a couple days off for many students. To keep students’ active, the Pettit formed the two daylong skating camps for young skaters to focus on their favorite ice sports while not in school.
The Pettit’s Vice President of Programs, Gino Cavallini said, “To everyone’s delight the camp was a huge success. Most importantly the kids had a blast!”
Those who attended the Halloween camps came from all over southeastern Wisconsin. The Hockey camp, which focused on skill development and non-structured team playing, saw young skaters from many state hockey organizations take to the ice. Waukesha Youth Hockey, Wisconsin AAA, Elmbrook Hockey, Winter Club, Southeastern Hockey Association of Wisconsin, Arrowhead Youth Hockey and of course the Pettit Hockey program, all had skaters in the two-day camp.
Attendees of the Figure Skating camp covered many topics including on-ice dramatical style, individual training and even hair and make-up for competitions. A broom hockey game was the last portion of the two-day camp experience with the figure skaters pulling off a surprising upset over the hockey players.
Besides the Halloween offerings, you can expect to see other seasonal camps at the Pettit National Ice Center, including a session between Christmas and New Years. The seasonal clinics will act as a prelude for a wide variety of summer camp offerings the Pettit has planned for this coming summer.
Included with the electronic form (not the fax) of this release are some pictures of the two Halloween camps. For any more pictures or information on Pettit camps please contact Rob Multerer at the Pettit National Ice Center.
