Cruikshank Powerskating Expanding Pettit Operation

The Pettit National Ice Center, a U.S. Olympic Training Facility, is taking on a new look this week. The second floor Hall of Fame room is now split into two separate rooms, one for business meetings, parties and general use. The other half of the room becomes the new home of DC Power Skating & Conditioning, LLC.

DC Power Skating works with a multitude of athletes, but the company’s main focus is working on the development of effective, high-performance skating skills for hockey players. Four-time Olympic Speed Skater and current Pettit tenant Dave Cruikshank started the business to keep working in ice sports and to pass on his years of training knowledge to athletes of all abilities.

DC Powerskating was launched in August 2002, with a location at the Pettit Center. After an increase in clients over the first year of the business, Cruikshank needed more space to accomplish all his clients ask. Cruikshank didn’t want to lose the vital Pettit location and all of its skaters, but still needed more space to run his operation. After negotiations, a plan was put in place to allow Cruikshank to share the Hall of Fame Room with the Pettit Center.

Skaters of all skill levels can train with Cruikshank, a former U.S. Speed Skater who was the 1987 Junior World Champion in the 500 meters. Cruikshank is married to Bonnie Blair, a former Olympian and multi-medallist.

Athletes who take part in a Cruikshank Power Skating session will focus on everything from skating balance to proper technique, new training procedures to skate maintenance. Cruikshank offers the complete package for his clients and will even tailor training sessions down to the minute in his brand-new workout studio.
