$1000 Smile Contest Coming To The Pettit

The Pettit National Ice Center, a U.S. Olympic Training Facility will be hosting the Cousins Subs “Thousand Dollar Smile Contest,” on October 2, 2004. Contestants are being challenged to smile for up to 24 hours straight in order to take home a $1,000 prize and raise money to improve the oral health of minority and low-income children throughout Wisconsin.

The Thousand Dollar Smile Contest is open to the first 100 individuals to register. Registration begins at 10 a.m. The contest begins at 11 a.m. There is no entry fee and free parking is available. For every contestant that enters the “Thousand Dollar Smile Contest,” Cousins Subs will donate $20 to Milwaukee-based Children’s Health Education Center (CHEC), a member of the Children’s Hospital and Health System.

“We all could use reasons to smile these days, so why not do it for an organization that promotes healthy smiles,” said Larry Weissman, Cousins Subs’ vice president of marketing. “Those who are willing to take the challenge to smile for up to 24 hours will help ensure that underprivileged children throughout the State will have healthy smiles for the rest of their lives.”

To kick off the event, Cousins Subs will host a “Baby Smile” round that will be judged for smile “cuteness.” The first 25 registered contestants (age 3-12 months) will be eligible to participate. The contest starts at 11:15 a.m. The Baby Smile Champion will receive a $250 savings bond as the grand prize.

An official smile during the competition requires the corners of the mouth to be upturned with some teeth showing. The winner of the contest will be the contestant who has the endurance to smile for the longest amount of time. To view the official rules, please visit www.cousinssubs.com.
