Record Number of Adult Hockey Teams Pack The Pettit

The Pettit National Ice Center, a U.S. Olympic Training Facility, is proud to announce the opening of the 2004 Fall Adult Hockey League season. With 33 adult teams and a whopping total of 627 players, the new fall season is the largest ever in the history of adult hockey at the Pettit Center.

The 627 skaters playing on 33 teams is not only the largest turnout ever for the Pettit but it also makes for the single largest adult hockey league playing in one single facility in the entire state of Wisconsin. The league features hockey players of all ages and all levels, including men’s teams and co-ed teams. Teams compete weekly against each other in the C-1, C-2, and B divisions.

“To achieve this record is tremendous not only for our facility but also for the skaters, as well,” says Tom Zienkiewicz, the Pettit’s Hockey Director. “There should be some great competition and a lot of fun all season long for all of the adult skaters here at the Pettit!”

Adult hockey players from all over southeast Wisconsin choose to play at the Pettit for various reasons. The Pettit’s convenient location, strong league organization and reputation for exceptional ice quality are just a few of the reasons adults find nothing but fun when it comes to playing hockey at the Pettit Center. Pettit hockey isn’t limited to adults, with the facility hosting its own youth league, as well. Wisconsin AAA hockey, a top-level youth hockey organization, also calls the Pettit its home ice.

Games for the adults begin Friday, September 17 and will conclude in late March with a competitive winner-take-all tournament. Adult teams will square off in a multiple week playoff bracket to determine who will be crowned champion in three different hockey skill levels.
