Badgerettes To Skate For A Cure
The Pettit National Ice Center, a U.S. Olympic Training Facility, along with Badgerette Pom Pon will host “Skate For A Cure” on Sunday, September 12, 2004.
“Skate For A Cure”, which is part of the Badgerette’s 2004 “Kicking For A Cure Campaign, is a fundraising public skating session to benefit breast cancer research and awareness
Since 1970, Badgerette Pom Pon has been and continues to be the Midwest's premier provider of pom pon and dance camps, clinics and competitions for squads with a passion for dance. But dance and poms are not the only tasks Badgerette fulfils. The group is also very active in the community with many fundraising events that benefit the Breast Cancer Research Center and the Komen Foundation. Girls of all ages are working to not only become better leaders of spirit, but also leaders of tremendous service.
“The girls are always amazed when they meet people who knows someone has a family member that breast cancer has affected,” says Mareta Prill, Badgerette Director. “It makes such an impact when they hear the stories first hand about how people want to help.”
Badgerette features girls from all over the southeast portion of Wisconsin. Besides breast cancer research, Badgerette fundraises to earn scholarships and enrollment for pom and dance camps all over the Midwest.
Everyone is encouraged to join Badgerette at the Pettit Center on September 12. Families and friends from across the area can lend a hand to help find a cure for breast cancer and have a fun afternoon of skating. Pom Pons are optional.
