Pettit Center To Hold Basic Skills Competition

The Pettit National Ice Center, a U.S. Olympic Training Facility, will play host to the first Snow Crystal Invitational on Saturday, April 3, 2004.

The purpose of the Snow Crystal Invitational, like all other Basic Skills Competitions, is to offer a fun introduction to the competitive sport of figure skating for the beginning skater. The Snow Crystal, which is being produced by the Wisconsin Figure Skating Club and the Pettit National Ice Center, will feature skaters of all ages and abilities. Basic skills competitions, similar to the Snow Crystal, are conducted across the country following guidelines established by United States Figure Skating.

Snow Crystal competition gets under way at 9 a.m. and will conclude with division champions crowned by 2 p.m.

“This is often a skater’s first experience in competitive skating, and can lead them down the road to their dreams,” says Craig Bodoh, the Snow Crystal organizer. “We are very excited to be holding the Snow Crystal at the Pettit, where Olympic dreams are made!”
