“Stars on Ice” Performers Visit Pettit

The Pettit National Ice Center, a U.S. Olympic Training Facility, recently hosted an evening with champions. The Pettit is in the habit of hosting champions everyday, but what made this group so different was that the skaters stopping by on Sunday were all performers from “Stars on Ice,” which previously took place at the Bradley Center on February 8.

After their “Stars on Ice” (SOI) performance, former men’s World Champion Todd Eldridge, ladies World Champion Yuka Sato, along with U.S. Pair Champions Jeni Meno and Todd Sand, all made their way to the Pettit. The world-class skaters met with members of the Wisconsin Figure Skating Club, as well as many other young Pettit figure skaters from the surrounding area.

“The skaters had a wonderful time attending the show as a group and later returning to their own rink to meet and talk with performers they hope to emulate one day,” said Lynn Paulsen, co-skating director at the Pettit.

The get together was a great opportunity for the younger skaters to get up-close and personal with some of their heroes, who happen to be some of the best and brightest in the world of figure skating. The reception included a light dinner, conversations surrounding the “SOI” performances, tips from the champions, which was eventually followed by an autograph session. Other guests in attendance at the Pettit included World and Olympic judges Gale Tanger and Joe Inman, as well as world-renowned coach Richard Callahan.

“The skaters had a wonderful time attending the performance as a group and later returning to the Pettit to meet and talk with skaters they hope to be some day,” said X.
