Long Track Championships Come to Pettit
The Pettit National Ice Center, a U.S. Olympic Training Facility, will team up with the Wisconsin Speed Skating Association to play host for the 2004 National Long Track Speed Skating Championships January 31-February 1.
The Long Track Championships, or Pack-Style Championships, will be open to amateur skaters of all ages and abilities that are registered with U.S. Speedskating. The event will include officials meetings, warm-ups, a pizza party, and of course speed skating races. Medals will be awarded to the first four skaters in each final, and each age class champion will be acknowledged with a gold medallion.
Skaters from speed skating clubs all over the nation will descend upon the Pettit for an action packed weekend of speed skating. There are races in all ages and divisions and the competition will feature skaters from age 5 to 65. U.S. Speedskating will be crowning amateur age-division champions at Milwaukee’s U.S. Olympic Training Facility.
The Long Track Championships have FREE admission and everyone is invited to come and experience a high-quality speed skating competition for themselves.
The co-meet directors for the weekend are Katie Traver, who can be contacted at
