Mustangs Track Club Trains At The Pettit Center
Group Utilizes Indoor 450-Meter Running Track
The Pettit National Ice Center, a U.S Olympic Training Site, is excited to welcome the Mustangs Track Club. The Mustangs are the latest running club to call the Pettit Center home.
The Mustangs Track Club is a non-profit organization that provides track and field opportunities for local youth ages 7-18. Anyone can become a member with the only prerequisite being a desire to train hard. Opportunities for competitions are provided, but the focus of the Mustangs is on setting personal goals and the training/conditioning needed to attain those goals.
The club operates like an Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) program. Top athletes are funneled to the Mustangs by local high school and middle school coaches. These athletes then compete in various local, regional and national indoor and outdoor track and field competitions as Mustangs club/team members.
The Mustangs will train at the Pettit Center each Thursday and Saturday from November through April and there will be two separate training groups each day working out on the Pettit Center's indoor 450-meter run/walk track
"We are very excited to have the Pettit National Ice Center as our home facility," said Ray Hale, head coach of the Mustangs Track Club. "We have already heard rave reviews from other local coaches and feel the Pettit Center move will help our program and our athletes immensely."
The club's goals are to encourage and help young athletes to develop physically, emotionally and socially through their involvement in track and field. Athletes will improve their physical conditioning as they learn skills related to track and field. All Mustangs members will be part of a team that encourages and promotes the development of friendship, support and encouragement for fellow athletes, good sportsmanship and a good time while on the track.
The Mustangs Track Club joins the Badgerland Striders, Wisconsin's largest running club, as running groups who call the Pettit Center their home facility.
