Pettit Short Track Skater Makes World Team
Leveille is Second Skater in History to Make Long Track and Short Track Teams

The Pettit National Ice Center, a U.S Olympic Training Site, is proud to announce the success of Ryan Leveille, a member of the Pettit Center's short track team.

Leveille, who is an original member of the Pettit Center's short track team, placed in the top six of male skaters at the recent American Cup II in Midland, Michigan.   With his top six finish, Leveille not only earns a spot on the US Speedskating short track World Cup team, he also earns his place in history.

Leveille was a 2006 U.S. Olympian in long track speed skating and already was a member of the long track world cup team.   By making the short track World Cup team, Leveille joins Shani Davis as only the second U.S. speed skater in history to be a member of the short track and long track world cup teams at the same time.

"I am so excited to be a member of both teams, it's a real honor to be able to compete in both disciplines," Leveille said just before he departed for a World Cup in Germany. "This will be my first true chance to see what it's like to compete in both long track and short track, at the same time, at a World-Class level."

It will be a busy couple of months for Leveille as he travels the world competing as a member of Team USA as a short track and a long track skater.   Leveille will race in the World Cup circuit Asia and Europe before he returns to Milwaukee for the U.S. Long Track Speedskating Championships December 19-23 at the Pettit Center.

As announced earlier in the season, Alyson Dudek, another Pettit Center short track team skater, was chosen as a member of the fall U.S. short track World Cup team.   Dudek, who is 16 years old and attends Divine Savior Holy Angels High School in Milwaukee, gained some valuable international experience while competiting in the fall short track World Cups.
