Pettit Center Announces Speed Skating Competition Schedule
MILWAUKEE--- The Pettit National Ice Center, a
U.S.
Olympic Training Facility, will once again feature a full slate of
speed
skating competitions, both long track and short track, during the
2007-2008
season.
Headlining this year’s schedule are two (2) national events, two (2)
international events and one state competition making its inaugural
appearance at the Pettit Center.
The Pettit Center will hold the U.S. Junior Long Track Championships at
the
end of January. This meet will feature the up-and-coming US speed
skating
stars. That same weekend, the Badger State Games will glide into the
Pettit
Center for the first time in its history. The long track competition
will
be held on the Pettit Center’s Olympic Oval right after the Junior
Championships.
Later in March, the U.S. Short Track National Championships will light
up
the Pettit Center. This national meet will feature more than 200
skaters
from all over the nation vying for the rite to be called National
Champions.
On the international side, both the North American Short Track and Long
Track Championships will be held in Milwaukee. These meets will feature
the
best from both U.S. and Canada.

November 3: Great Lakes Short Track
November 18: Gold Cup
December 1: Holiday Classic
December 2: I-94 Sprints
December 8-9: American Cup II
January 5-6: Masters American Sprint
January 13-14: Great Lakes Long Track
January 20: Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota Long Track state meets
January 25-27: U.S. Junior Long Track Championships
January 26-27: Badger State Games
February 8-10: North American Long Track Championships
February 16-17: Masters International
March 7-9: U.S. Short Track National Championships
March 14-18: North American Short Track Championships
Besides the competitions listed above, the Pettit Center will also hold
long
track weekend races (Time Trials) nearly every weekend through February
featuring skaters from around the country and around the globe
