Pettit Center To Host NCAA® Frozen Four® YES Clinic

The Pettit National Ice Center, a U.S. Olympic Training Facility, will serve as host for the 2006 NCAA Men’s Frozen Four Youth Education through Sports (YES) Clinic fueled by POWERade on Saturday, April 8, 2006.

The clinic is free-of-charge and open to 160 boys and girls ages 10 through 18 on a first-come, first-serve basis. Applications are available at the Pettit Center and at the facility web site, www.thepettit.com. Participants must bring their own hockey gear.

Clinic participants will have the unique opportunity to receive ice hockey instruction from some of the nation’s top male and female NCAA collegiate hockey players and coaches – including several representing UW-Madison. In addition to on-ice and off-ice instruction, participants will also receive a T-shirt and goodie-bag. A special panel will also be held for parents and will address a variety of sports issues.

“The Pettit Center is a fantastic setting for the YES Clinic. We’re very excited to bring our NCAA student-athletes to Wisconsin’s Olympic Training Facility to inspire young hockey players,” said Deb Turner, NCAA YES Program Director.

Among the Division One student-athletes anticipated to participate in the YES Clinic are several players with State of Wisconsin ties

  • John Daigneau - plays at Harvard and is originally from Brookfield, Wisconsin

  • Nikki Burish - from the Division One Women’s National Champion Wisconsin Badgers and hails from Madison, Wisconsin

  • Sharon Cole - member of the Division One Women’s National Champion Wisconsin Badgers

  • Meghan Horras - member of the Division One Women’s National Champion Wisconsin Badgers and is from Appleton, Wisconsin.

  • Jill Luebke – member of Bemidji State who is from Neenah, Wisconsin
