Holidazzle A Success For Pettit Center
The Pettit National Ice Center, a U.S Olympic Training Site, wrapped-up Holidazzle and a great holiday season with a record-setting performance to close out 2006.
The Pettit Center saw the single biggest public skating crowd in its 15-year history on December 31, 2006. The Pettit Center New Year's Eve celebration not only included a countdown and noisemakers every hour, it included a record number of public skaters. 2,618 people came to skate on New Year's Eve, making it the largest public skating crowd the Pettit Center has ever seen.
Holidazzle, the Pettit Center's holiday celebration, began the day after Thanksgiving and came to an end on New Year's day. Over the span from November 24 to January 1, XXX people enjoyed skating on the Pettit's Olympic Oval. The Pettit Center also welcomed 80,000 people into the facility during the run of Holidazzle.
The biggest and best crowds came the week between Christmas and New Years. Over 10,000 people came public skating at the Pettit Center from Christmas Eve to New Years Day. An amazing 45,000 people passed through the facility during the fun-filled holiday week.
Also during the holiday week, the Pettit Center hosted multiple skating camps. The Pettit Center's Candy Cane Club skating camp and Rink Rats hockey were busy having fun at Wisconsin's only U.S. Olympic Training Site.
Also in attendance was 2002 U.S. Olympic short track coach Sue Ellis and her annual Holiday Ellis Edge speed skating camp. The Ellis Edge camp featured speed skaters from across Canada and the United States.
