Learn
To Play Hockey at The Pettit Skating School
Basic skating skills are the foundation of success
in hockey. Therefore, the Pettit recommends
aspiring hockey players begin with a basic skills
class. Children who have never skated before
may find the transition to ice hockey easier after
some basic skating instruction. Introductory
hockey classes are designed by USA Hockey.

The Pettit's Learn to Play Hockey Program is designed
by USA Hockey to teach the fundamentals of the
game. The program teaches skills in the
basics of passing, skating, shooting and puck-handling.
Through a progression of 4 skill levels the necessary
skating techniques, stick handling and puck handling
skills required to play youth hockey are taught.
As one of the nation's most comprehensive instructional
hockey programs, the Pettit's Learn To Play Hockey
Program excels in developing well-rounded young
players. Skaters who participate in the
Learn To Play Hockey Program will also have the
opportunity to put those skills into action through
"cross-ice" games on Saturdays. Graduates
of this program are ready to progress into the
